Good Afternoon! My name is Angela Roberts and this is the premiere of the newest national news broadcast here in these United States of the PLR! I have a few announcements here so by all means, let us get right on with today's news.
Earlier this morning, Madam Minister of Foreign Affairs Lisa Rice has announced in a small public conference that the PLR is ready to return to the global community with full force so that it may return to the prestigious it once possessed 30 years ago. Madam Rice also declared that the PLR administration is relieved that the conflict with South Hyder has been resolved; however, a potential conflict with the country of Kohali may possibly be brewing. US intelligence released a statement today declaring that "although it is not within the interests of the PLR to return to the international community and cause waves of instability in order to prove its capable dominance, the people, government, and armed forces of the PLR are prepared to proceed towards the usage of force if proper options of diplomatic resolutions cannot be achieved". The Office of the Presidency enforced the previous statement by declaring that "countries such as Kohali are known to be prone to have a large bark and a very small bite. War would only be a one sided to the PLR while the reality of a hindrances and absolute failure awaits the people of Kohali if their government continues to leave their national sovereignty vulnerable and weak".
In other news, the construction of the PLR's largest reservoir and dam have been approved by the Department of the Interior. A major benefit to these projects is the major employment surplus that will be developed from this as well as the extension of electrical hydropower and an expansion of the agricultural sector to feed and connect citizens of the US that do not live within the major cities. This is part of the major government projects to continue the modernization, continuation, and sustainability of internal PLR. It is projected for the major projects to take approximately 5-8 years to complete.
At the top of the afternoon, the Upper Chamber of the Parliamentary Union passed legislation that would establish the largest department pertaining to employment and labor. The leadership of the National Conservative Front, which is the one-party state of the PLR, entitled this department as the Works Progress Administration. The Bogdan administration has released the following statement pertaining to the job of the Works Progress Administration:
"The WPA works towards employing millions of people (mostly unskilled men and women) to carry out public works projects, including the construction of public buildings and roads. The WPA is a national program that operates its own projects in cooperation with state and local governments, which shall provide 10–30% of the costs. The local sponsors will provide land, trucks, and supplies while the WPA will be responsible for wages (and for the salaries of supervisors, who were not on relief). WPA sometimes will be able to take over state and local relief programs in certain conditions and situations. The WPA will build and modernize traditional infrastructure such as roads, bridges, schools, courthouses, hospitals, sidewalks, waterworks, and post-offices, but also construct museums, swimming pools, parks, community centers, playgrounds, coliseums, markets, fairgrounds, tennis courts, zoos, botanical gardens, auditoriums, waterfronts, city halls, gyms, and university unions. Most of these are still in use today. The amount of infrastructure projects of the WPA include 40,000 new and 85,000 improved buildings. These new buildings included 5,900 new schools; 9,300 new auditoriums, gyms, and recreational buildings; 1,000 new libraries; 7,000 new dormitories; and 900 new armories. In addition, infrastructure projects include 2,302 stadiums, grandstands, and bleachers; 52 fairgrounds and rodeo grounds; 1,686 parks covering 75,152 acres; 3,185 playgrounds; 3,026 athletic fields; 805 swimming pools; 1,817 handball courts; 10,070 tennis courts; 2,261 horseshoe pits; 1,101 ice-skating areas; 138 outdoor theatres; 254 golf courses; and 65 ski jumps. The total expenditures on WPA projects is estimated to be $186 billion. Over $4 billion will be spent on highway, road, and street projects; more than $1 billion on public buildings. $16.3 billion will be spent on publicly owned or operated utilities; and another $1 billion on welfare projects, including sewing projects for women, the distribution of surplus commodities, and school lunch projects. the WPA will build 325 firehouses and renovate 2,384 of them across the United States. The 20,000 miles of water mains, installed by their hand as well, contributed to increased fire protection across the country. A few priority projects that are planned to go into fruition within the next two years are to improve infrastructure; roads, extension of electricity to rural areas, water conservation, sanitation and flood control. Through the unanimous passing of the Emergency Relief Appropriations Act, public facilities now have a heightened focus. because of this parks and associated facilities, public buildings, utilities, airports, and transportation projects will be funded. Furthermore, within the next year, it is predicted for the WPA to implement the introduction of advanced agricultural improvements, such as the production of modified marl fertilizer and the eradication of fungus pests. This is only the beginning to a long list of future legislation and development that shall truly heighten and develop the legacy and prestige of these United States. Thank you".
